Designed by Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni & in 1962, the timeless Arco lamp is possibly the best selling lamp ever. It was featured in numerous films throughout the sixties and seventies, including " Diamonds are Forever" and " The Italian Job" , and is now part of the collection at the Museum of Modern Arts.
As up to date now as it was then, blending high style and functionality, the Arco lamp makes a sweeping statement with its adjustable steel ball shade suspended from an arched steel arm almost eight feet from its marble base. It will look best in a large room, or at the very least a room with high ceilings!
Our version is extremely high quality, with a very heavy, solid white or black Carrara marble base, with a distinctive hole, - enabling two people to comfortably move the lamp simply by inserting a stick ( like a broom stick) through the hole & lift it.
The lamp itself is composed of a semicircular arch ( " arco" ) made of three tubular or rectangular stainless steel parts, and an adjustable shade in polished steel, with perforated circles for diffusing the light. The lamp is turned on and off by a foot switch attached to the cable.
